EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION

We don't always recognize that even with good eating & exercise our symptoms are signs that we are still not in homeostasis. How we breathe is foundational to how our body can fully renew, restore, and heal. Restore from the inside out- Body, soul (mind, emotions, & memory), & spirit.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BUTEYKO & OTHER BREATHING METHODS?

WHAT IS OROFACIAL MYOFUNCTIONAL THERAPY?

Think of 'Myofunctional Therapy' like Physical Therapy for the throat, tongue, lips, and cheeks. Some people have or experience UARS (Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome), OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea), Snoring, Mouth Breathing, Choking, Grinding, Clenching, TMJ problems, Headaches, Drooling, Improper Swallow (food/liquid goes down "the wrong pipe"), Slush Speech Sounds, Mumbling, etc...

Many of these listed are signs of oral muscle dysfunction. When we can improve the oral muscles many of these symptoms greatly improve and or even go away completely. With neuromuscular re-education of the oral and facial muscles, oral exercises and behavior modification techniques we aim to promote proper tongue resting position, exclusive nasal breathing (day, night, and while exercising), improved chewing and swallowing patterns. By establishing correct tongue resting position and correct swallow patterns, your body is naturally improving vagal tone; just the way we were created to without seeking out treatment for it.

I utilize the Buteyko Breathing Method, Oxygen Advantage, & Orofacial Myology to reeducate breathing habits as well as oral muscles. The reeducation of breathing and oral habits helps to improve oxygen uptake while awake, exercising, and sleeping giving the body the ability to begin healing on a whole different level. This is 24/7 breathing during all activity levels as well as sleep vs knowing a technique you may practice during meditation but does not reeducate your subconscious breathing.

When we work together our goal is to investigate how your body is compensating. Explore ways to reeducate breathing and oral habits that work for each individual, improve vagal tone, bring awareness to how the body speaks, and harness your breath potential.

WHY ISN'T THIS PART OF MY NORMAL HEALTHCARE PLAN?

We live in a “managed care environment,” we are good at chasing symptoms not always looking to see how over the centuries our lifestyles have changed, but not recognizing that the way our body was created to function has not changed. We ask a lot of our body, mind, and emotions and forget to give back what it needs.
